Ask what “no filter” means to you

The phrase can mean different things: a wider range of fictional themes, fewer safety interruptions, mature-content access, or simply consistent character voice. Those are not interchangeable. Write down the specific interaction you want before comparing products.

No platform label can guarantee that every prompt will be accepted or that every model will respond the same way. Moderation systems and terms change, and providers may apply different rules to text, images, accounts, or age groups.

Read policy and product controls

Start with the service’s own current terms, safety page, and privacy policy. Look for content that is prohibited, how users report content, whether age-based experiences differ, and what controls exist for blocking or hiding material. Character.AI’s published safety information, for example, describes teen-specific safeguards and product controls; use the current first-party page rather than old comparison posts.

A moderation policy is not a simple rating. It describes how a service sets limits and handles reports. If a rule is unclear, treat the answer as unknown and ask support before building a long-running character or sharing sensitive content.

Use a consistent, non-sensitive test

Choose a fictional scene that sits comfortably within the product’s stated rules. Try the same setup across services and note whether the character remains coherent, where the system explains a limit, and whether you can redirect the scene. Do not test with illegal or harmful requests.

Separate an in-character refusal from a broken feature or a provider outage. Record the product, plan, model label if shown, date, and prompt category. That makes your observations reproducible without claiming one platform is universally uncensored.

A practical checklist

  • What content does the official policy allow or prohibit?
  • Can I adjust tone, character instructions, or visibility?
  • Are there age gates or different safety settings?
  • Can I report or block a character?
  • Does the privacy policy explain chat handling?

Do not trade safety for unclear privacy

A permissive content label says nothing by itself about data retention, human review, training use, or account deletion. Check those separately before sharing personal details. Use only invented story information during an initial evaluation.

Be cautious with screenshots and third-party “uncensored” lists: they may be outdated, affiliate-driven, or point to lookalike domains. Navigate from a product’s official site and verify its domain before signing in or paying.

Jess’s scope

Jess is presented as a private AI companion in Discord, with tier-specific features and a community around the experience. Its positioning is not a promise that every possible request is supported. Review the current Jess terms, visible feature descriptions, and plans before choosing it.

If your main requirement is a particular content boundary, verify that requirement directly instead of inferring it from an alternative-page title or a broad marketing word. Jess may be a fit for people who want a Discord-based recurring companion; the details of your use case still matter.
